Stepping into prosperity
requires a shift from a mind-
set of scarcity to one of
abundance. Scarcity is a
myth that keeps us searching
for fulfillment outside of
ourselves. The belief that
there is not enough and
more is better causes us to ignore the richness that is already present.
The quest for internal
satisfaction through external power leaves us dependent on illusions of success and
well-being. Prosperity isn’t tied to our social or
financial status but rather is connected to the quality of our lives. If we limit ourselves to
believing prosperity lies in a particular
opportunity, person, or place we’ll find ourselves disappointed each time when getting the very thing we prayed for only to discover it did not
possess the fulfillment we yearned.
In her profound and captivating book The Soul of Money, Lynne Twist tackles our perspectives around money and wealth. She shares the importance of examining the mind-sets that we have been conditioned to believe when stating, “This internal condition of scarcity, this mind-set of scarcity, lives at the very heart of our jealousies, our greed, our prejudice, and our arguments with life, and it is deeply embedded in our relationship with money. In the mind-set of scarcity, our relationship with money is an expression of fear; a fear that drives us in an endless and unfulfilling chase for more, or into compromises that promise a way out of the chase or discomfort around money.”
As we shift our mind-set to embracing the prosperity within ourselves we can become better and more faithful stewards of this world. Imagine the shift we would see in our world if we all sought inner prosperity. Perhaps we would find ourselves less engaged in nuclear warfare, less entertained by violence on television and less destructive of the environment. Prosperity creates space for us to not only have reverence for the world we live in but to also implement practices that create wellness in our personal lives.
Prosperity is living in a state of abundance. It is embracing each chapter of our lives as a necessary part of our growth and evolution. It lies in releasing our resistance to life’s unexpected circumstances and believing that every situation, whether desired or not is happening in our favor. We were made to prosper. As we affirm our value as being beyond material gains and tune into the frequency of abundance we welcome prosperity as a treasured friend.
